Mission Statement
The Ballinger Fire Department was established in 1905. We are dedicated to the prevention and suppression of fires, as well as response to extrication incidents, we also providing mutual aid to surrounding communities around the City of Ballinger, Texas (37 miles west of San Angelo), and Southeast area of Runnels County. The community profile is "Rural / light industrial".
We are a combination department with 2 career firefighters and 36 volunteer firefighters, and serve the City of Ballinger (pop. 4200) and Runnels County (pop. approx. 15,000). We have a service area of approx. 450 sq. miles, averaging about 125 runs annually. We are located 36 miles east of San Angelo, Tx and 53 miles south of Abilene, Tx. U.S. Highway 83 and U.S. Highway 67 intersect through our city. The apparatus we use are 2 engines, 1 emergency response vehicle, 3 brush / grass rigs and 1 booster truck. We also have 2 parade trucks 1914 American LaFrance and 1957 Howe Engine.
